The portuguese subtropical archipelago of Madeira is located in the Atlantic Ocean just 90 minutes flight from the portuguese capital Lisbon. This archipelago is formed by eight islands, but only the two largest (Madeira and Porto Santo) are inhabited and can be accessed via the Madeira International Airport and Porto Santo International Airport.Among other unique features, like the UNESCO’s protected Laurisilva Forest, the Levadas irrigation channels, Madeira is also home to the world’s famous football player, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has a dedicated Museum in the islands’ capital Funchal. Our company, the Madeira Promotion Bureau, is a non profit organization, founded in August 2004 by the Madeira Tourism Board and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Funchal, with the objective of promoting the Madeira Islands as a Tourism Destination.
