Windermere Lake Cruises

Windermere Lake Cruises

Booth No. 999

"A cruise on Windermere is the quintessential way for visitors to experience the stunning scenery surrounding England’s largest lake, including the famous Lakeland fells, wooded shoreline and rolling countryside. So it’s no surprise Windermere Lake Cruises is England’s sixth most popular ‘paid for’ visitor attraction with almost 1.5million passenger journeys every year. The company operates 16 boats, including three historic ‘steamers’ known as MV Tern, MV Swan and MV Teal – the largest vessel ever built for the lake. All have heated indoor cabins where passengers can make the most of an on-board commentary, telling them more about the lake’s fascinating landscape and heritage. There is also a fleet of traditional wooden launches and waterbuses which runs all year round. Scheduled sailings range from 30 minute single trips to full day itineraries, which can be combined with lunch, dinner or traditional afternoon tea at a tranquil lakeside location. Alternatively, catering can be provided on board and vessels can be hired exclusively for special events and sailings.Coach parking is available at Bowness and Lakeside with drop off at Ambleside. Guides sail free and there are incentives and complimentary refreshments for both tour leaders and coach drivers at Bowness coach park. Visitors can also visit by car or use frequent boat/bus connections. To round off the day, why not make the most of Windermere Lake Cruises’ convenient links with other leading tourist attractions, including the Lakeland Motor Museum. This trip down memory lane takes in a unique collection of 30,000 exhibits carefully assembled over 50 years, including 150 classic cars and motorbikes. Star exhibits include the Isle of Man TT Tribute Exhibition and the Campbell Bluebird Exhibition. Open 7 days a week, the museum is a perfect all weather attraction. There is also a riverside café and gift shop."
