Biography

Kate joined Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board in November 2013, as Regional Director, China. Based in Beijing, she is responsible for LA Tourism’s business and development in China. Through its 4 offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu, Kate and her team of 11 is dedicated to helping the tourism industry in Los Angeles achieve its business objectives – to drive visitation and revenue, and to increase LA’s market share of outbound tourism from China.
In addition to destination marketing and tourism development, as representatives of Los Angeles World Airports – LAX, Kate and her team also works closely with the aviation industry to develop and maintain non-stop air services from various points in China to LAX. Prior to the COVID-19, there were 14 cities in mainland China that offered non-stop air services to Los Angeles, with a combined weekly capacity of 30,000 seats, helping to bring a record breaking 1.2 million Chinese visitors to the city destination in 2019, the largest of all overseas markets.
Since graduating from Tourism & Hospitality Management School, Beijing International Studies University, Kate has had over 30 years of experience in travel and tourism industry.
She has held senior positions in both public and private sectors, before joining Los Angeles Tourism, and was the Regional Director, Greater China for the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
